Mike De Decker faced Cameron Menzies in the last 16 of the European Darts Trophy last weekend. It was an incredibly tense match, with both players missing multiple match darts. In the end, it was Menzies who edged out a 6-5 victory, leading to some bizarre celebrations.

As he often does, Menzies put on a theatrical display, even dropping to the floor after miscalculating a shot. De Decker, on the other hand, appeared unfazed—at least on the surface. However, according to Vincent van der Voort, who heard from his close friend Michael van Gerwen, there was more to the story. “Mike completely lost it and couldn’t keep his emotions in check. He was furious after the match, and I can understand why,” Van der Voort revealed on the Darts Draait Door podcast.

Menzies, who is in a relationship with Fallon Sherrock, has been known for his eccentric antics. “You could make a new episode about him every week,” Van der Voort joked. “He’s just a bit crazy—not in a bad way, that’s just who he is.”

De Decker’s ability to remain composed on stage impressed fellow darts player Dirk van Duijvenbode. “I wouldn’t have managed that,” admitted ‘Aubergenius.’ Menzies, however, didn’t make it past the quarterfinals, losing 6-3 to Ryan Joyce.

Van Duijvenbode also recalled another instance of Menzies’ unusual behavior. “At the Belgian Darts Open, he lost 6-5 in the first round to Canadian Matt Campbell. Even two hours later, he was still sulking and acting strangely—hugging Campbell over and over. I must have seen them do it six times! I just thought, ‘What on earth is going on here?’” Van Duijvenbode laughed.
