Nathan Aspinall moved up into the top four in the
Premier League Darts table after he beat
Rob Cross 6-2 in the Exeter final.
Aspinall started the better of the two, racing into a 2-0 lead as Cross wasn't afforded a dart at double. When he was allowed a chance to get on the board, Cross couldn't take it - missing the bull to halve the deficit. 'The Asp' began to run away with it.
The fourth leg should've been much more straightforward for Aspinall to win. He initially missed the bull for a 167, but then failed to tidy up. Cross simply couldn't make the most of it and found himself 4-0 down in the blink of an eye.
The World No. 4 made up for the slack visits previously by smashing in a 160 to go within one leg of victory in style.
Cross, averaging more than his opponent, finally got one on the board with an 80 finish. He then started to gather some momentum, checking out 121 on the bull with Aspinall waiting on 51 for the match.
'The Asp' made sure there would no more darting drama, pinning tops for his first night victory in 2024.
It is a great's night preparation for Aspinall, with the UK Open beginning on Friday night for the Premier League stars.
