Michael van Gerwen and
Nathan Aspinall have secured a spot in the last four during the third round of play in the 2025
Premier League Darts in Dublin.
Van Gerwen, pushed back a later surge to settle with
Chris Dobey (6-4) in the final quarterfinals. Van Gerwen traveled to the Irish capital knowing that he has a particularly good record there. Of his thirteen previous matches at the 3Arena, he won no fewer than eleven.
The 35-year-old Dutchman made a particularly eager impression on stage. This was especially evident in this way he celebrated his won legs. This happened when winning the fourth leg, in which Van Gerwen threw a 12-darter to take a 3-1 lead. This was followed by a 72 finish to make it 4-1.
Dobey responded with a 154 finish, but then missed three chances to break Van Gerwen back. Van Gerwen thus escaped and made it 5-2 with a 56 finish. Dobey still came back to 5-4, before Van Gerwen decided the match with a 12-darter.
In the semi-final match Van Gerwen faces Nathan Aspinall 'The Asp' triumphed 6-3 against
Rob Cross in the third match of the evening and secured his first points of this Premier League.
