Night 12 of the 2025 Premier League Darts took place last night in Liverpool, but it nearly went ahead without Nathan Aspinall. ‘The Asp’ was beaten 6–3 in the quarter-finals by Luke Humphries, but the bigger story was the fact he was able to compete at all.
The 33-year-old has been struggling with dartitis for some time and revealed that he picked up a shoulder injury during last week’s Pro Tour final.
He lost that Pro Tour final 8–6 to Damon Heta and withdrew from the following day’s event in Rosmalen - now we know why.
"I did it last week on the Pro Tour. I did not know what I had done until I got back home but I had a minor dislocation on my shoulder," he explained to Sky Sports during the Premier League Darts night in Liverpool. "I don’t know how I managed to play so well last week! It is still a little sore but it feels good now."
Aspinall went on to say he received treatment at his usual clinic: “It's still pretty bad. I pulled it a bit and made the decision to pull out of the ProTour on Tuesday."
Despite the setback, Aspinall didn’t show many signs of discomfort on stage in Liverpool. Although he lost to Humphries, he posted an impressive 104+ average and remains firmly in the Premier League’s top four after 12 of the 16 league nights.
