Nathan Aspinall hopes to record his first win of the 2025 Premier League Darts season on Thursday night in Dublin. The Englishman will take on Rob Cross in the quarterfinals of Night Three and is looking to finally get his campaign up and running.
After his somewhat controversial selection for this year's lineup, Aspinall has endured a tough start to the season. At the first week of play in Belfast, he went down despite a fine match against an outstanding Luke Humphries, who eventually took the weekly title. Last week in Glasgow, Aspinall lost narrowly to Gerwyn Price, despite two impressive ton-plus finishes. Cross, on the other hand, squandered a wide 5-1 lead against Luke Littler, giving both players something to put right in the Irish capital.

Although Cross has the advantage in terms of form, Aspinall can actually draw hope from some statistics. Last year they met five times over the course of the Premier League Darts and each time Aspinall emerged the winner. They also met in Dublin twelve months ago and then "The Asp" won 6-5.
"I love playing in the Premier League," declared 2020 runner-up Aspinall, in quotes collected by the PDC ahead of Night Three. "Every time I walk on to the stage I get that buzz, and I think playing week in week out will help me produce my A-game."
Aspinall can draw confidence from his impressive record in the Premier League. In his four previous participations, he never finished lower than fifth place. Still, he knows better than anyone that a poor start in this tournament can be dangerous. Last year, he lost his first three matches before finding his form. "I need to grasp on to all of the positive memories over the last few years, learn from my mistakes last year and not make them again!" Aspinall concludes determinedly.
