After two weeks of electrifying action, the Premier League Darts moves to Dublin this Thursday for the third week of competition at the 3Arena, a staple venue in the traveling darts circuit since 2012.
With Luke Humphries leading the standings and Luke Littler securing the night’s title in Glasgow last week, the battle for the top spots is heating up. Meanwhile, big names like Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price are still in pursuit of their first final appearance this season.
With several exciting matchups lined up, fans can expect another evening of high-intensity action. Here’s a preview of the quarterfinal fixtures in Dublin.

Current Premier League leader Luke Humphries kicks off the night against Stephen Bunting, who is still seeking his first win in this year’s competition. Humphries has a stellar record in Dublin, having won the weekly title last year with consistently high averages exceeding 104 across all matches.
While Humphries appears to be the favorite, Bunting has proven he can defeat him. Earlier this year, ‘The Bullet’ edged out Humphries in a nail-biting 7-6 thriller at the Bahrain Darts Masters, eventually claiming the title.
Humphries enters this match in excellent form, having won the opening week in Belfast and reaching the final in Glasgow last week, where he narrowly lost to Littler. Bunting, on the other hand, will be desperate to claim his first win and avoid falling too far behind in the standings.
One of the night’s most anticipated clashes sees Gerwyn Price take on Luke Littler. ‘The Iceman’ is one of the few players with a positive head-to-head record against Littler, having won their last four encounters, including two meetings this year.
Littler currently sits second in the standings after claiming his first Premier League night title in Glasgow. ‘The Nuke’ delivered exceptional performances, averaging well over 100 in all matches and defeating Rob Cross (6-5), Michael van Gerwen (6-2), and Luke Humphries (6-5) en route to victory.
Last year in Dublin, both Price and Littler suffered defeats at the hands of the same opponent—Michael Smith, who knocked out Littler in the first round before eliminating Price in the semi-finals. In 2023, Price came close to winning the Dublin title but lost 6-5 to Michael van Gerwen in the final.
Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall will face off for the 19th time in an all-English showdown, with their past encounters often being closely contested. Although Aspinall holds a slight edge in their head-to-head meetings, his dominance last year is particularly noteworthy—he won all five of their 2024 Premier League matchups, including a 6-5 victory in Dublin. Historically, Cross has struggled in the Irish capital, having never won a match in Dublin despite being a long-time Premier League participant.
However, recent form suggests Cross could turn the tide. He has already claimed two titles this season, winning the Dutch Darts Masters and Players Championship 1, while Aspinall is still searching for his first Premier League victory.
‘The Asp’ has not played poorly, but he has faced tough opposition. In the opening week, he ran into an in-form Luke Humphries, and last week, despite averaging 96, he fell 6-4 to Gerwyn Price. Against the former world champion Cross, Aspinall will be eager to secure his first points of the campaign.
Michael van Gerwen is still chasing his first weekly final in this edition of the Premier League Darts. Twice in a row, he was halted in the semi-finals by the eventual winner of the matchweek—first against Luke Humphries in Belfast and then against Luke Littler in Glasgow. This week, ‘Mighty Mike’ has the chance to break that pattern in a city where he has traditionally been very successful. Van Gerwen has won an impressive eleven of his thirteen matches at the 3Arena and even claimed the weekly title there in 2023.
Chris Dobey is in his second Premier League season and has already secured his first weekly final. He achieved this in Belfast, where ‘Hollywood’ had to concede defeat to Luke Humphries in the final. On his debut in 2023, Dobey immediately won the opening matchweek in Belfast, defeating Van Gerwen in the final.
That was one of six times Dobey has managed to beat his Dutch opponent. The Englishman lost his first eleven matches against Van Gerwen, but the head-to-head record now stands at 19-6. In recent years, Dobey has increasingly shown that he can defeat the three-time world champion. However, at the last World Championship, Dobey was soundly beaten 6-1 in sets by Van Gerwen.
A unique feature of the Premier League is that each weekly event functions as a separate mini-tournament, with the winner earning an additional £10,000. This system allows players to significantly boost their prize money with multiple victories. Over the 16-week competition, a total of £160,000 in bonuses is up for grabs.
Players also earn points towards the league standings based on their performance. The weekly winner secures five points, the runner-up earns three, semi-finalists receive two points, while quarterfinal losers leave empty-handed.
