Netherlands' duo of
Michael van Gerwen and
Dirk van Duijvenbode will face off against Scotland's Peter Wright and John Henderson in a mouth watering clash in the
World Cup of Darts Quarter-Finals.
It was Singapore in the Last 16 for the duo and it was a 2-0 win after singles success for both Van Gerwen and Van Duijvenbode.
It was team captains up first as Van Gerwen faced Paul Lim and in a match which on paper could produce, it was the latter that was out of sorts.
He hit a 75.5 average in being whitewashed by 'The Green Machine' 4-0 who averaged 88.4 in the end.
This put it down to Harith Lim who sent Dirk van Duijvenbode all the way to a decider and both Van Gerwen and Lim were setting up for a pairs decider.
But in the end, 'The Titan' prevailed to avert any late drama in Jena.
To begin their tie, Harith Lim hit a 111 but Van Duijvenbode returned for a 106 to make it 2-2 to leave it finely poised early on between the pair.
It was the former that edged ahead with a hold of throw in the form of a 39 checkout to make it 3-2. But it went all the way with a leg to decide whether it would be victory for Netherlands or Singapore taking it to pairs.
Van Duijvenbode was smashing in the treble 20's and he gained match darts only to spurn two at double 18 from a 96 checkout.
Lim slipped into treble eight from an 83 checkout and Van Duijvenbode was allowed to return for double nine and the victory.
