O'Connor 'absolutely delighted' after booking European Championship Quarter-Final spot with Hughes win

William O'Connor has reached his second individual TV Quarter-Final at the European Championship after a dominant display to see off Jamie Hughes 10-3.

O'Connor came into the event as 32nd seed and a late replacement for Glen Durrant but has seized his opportunity to reach this stage and will now take on James Wade in the latter stages.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said O'Connor. "I've got a huge opportunity now to push on a little bit further.

"It was easier than I was expecting today but I felt Jamie was a little bit nervous and I wanted to win my leg and break him early on to get 2-0 up and use that throughout the game, but Jamie never got into the game."

"I'm trying to play myself back into form and the more I play the closer I feel I'm getting to where I want to be," he added. "Every time I go out there I try to play the best I can and have no regrets.

"I need more match practice under my belt but I'll be giving it 100 percent and hopefully I'll feel comfortable, relaxed and refreshed. I'll have to play well to win."
