On This Day.. in 2012: Lloyd becomes first player to hit more than one nine-dart finish at PDC tournament in Germany

In 'On this day in ...' Dartsnews looks back on an event or performance of a player on a certain date. This time a return to 22 June 2012.

On this day Colin Lloyd threw a nine darter during a Euro Tour tournament in Berlin. Jaws' recorded his perfect leg in the first round of the German Darts Championship against Alex Roy. Lloyd became the first player with two nine-darters at a PDC tournament in Germany, after the two-time major winner also produced one at a Players Championship tournament in Bad Soden in 2008.

Currently, only five players have thrown two or more nine darters at a PDC tournament in Germany. Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade have two to their name. Michael van Gerwen and José de Sousa even have three.
