"People constantly want to take a picture or have a chat with you" - No chance of Raymond van Barneveld appearance at Dutch Open

Raymond van Barneveld was active at the Dutch Darts Masters last weekend. But he will not participate in the Dutch Open.

The Dutch Open is the largest tournament within the WDF association and may welcome some 7,000 players again this year. Earlier Vincent van der Voort already indicated that he wants to participate in the pairs tournament with his son. As a PDC player you do need permission from that association.

But unlike his compatriot, Van Barneveld is refraining from participating in the Dutch Open. "No, because that's a pleurisy end of the road," a smiling Van Barneveld told Double Top. The Dutch Open takes place in Assen and it is about a two and a half hour drive from Den Haag, where Van Barneveld lives.

'Barney,' however, has another reason not to come to the Dutch Open. "I'm Raymond van Barneveld and when I go to the Dutch Open people constantly want to take a picture or have a chat with you. Then you have no life. I might still watch on TV and wish Vincent good luck. But not with me there!"
