From Thursday, February 1 to Sunday, February 4, the Dutch Open will take place in the Bonte Wever in Assen. This tournament, where points can be earned for the WDF ranking, is traditionally the biggest darts tournament in the world.
This year, in all likelihood, Vincent van der Voort will also be among the participants. And that is quite remarkable, since Van der Voort is a PDC Tour Card holder. Those Tour Card holders need permission from the PDPA (Professional Dart Players Association) to play tournaments outside the PDC, where matches are televised or broadcast via live stream.
"I see so many players playing on a stream. For example Simon Whitlock and Jules van Dongen in Las Vegas," Van der Voort said to Sportnieuws.nl.
Van der Voort wants to join his son Kevin in the pairs tournament at the Dutch Open. "I haven't asked yet, but I will tell Matt Porter (CEO of the PDC) this weekend. If he really doesn't want it, then I won't do it, but that seems strong," Van der Voort said.
