It's the turn of the big guns at the
Austrian Darts Open 2025 in Graz on Saturday night. The final eight matches from the second round of the Euro Tour tournament in Austria will be played during the evening session.
The Austrian Darts Open was once the first Euro Tour tournament to be held. Justin Pipe crowned himself winner of the very first Euro Tour event in PDC history in 2012. Michael van Gerwen (2013) and Vincent van der Voort (2014) then provided Dutch successes in Austria before Phil Taylor won the 2016 edition. Van Gerwen eventually triumphed four times, as he also picked up wins in 2017, 2019 and 2022.
Jonny Clayton was the best in 2018 and 2023, while Littler ran away with the title in 2024.

Damon Heta v Karel Sedlacek
Karel Sedlacek saw off Raymond van Barneveld yesterday and it provided the Czech with a showdown with Damon Heta. The Australian had a somewhat colorless start to the season, but recently showed form by winning a Players Championship tournament in Rosmalen. On the Euro Tour, 'The Heat' is not doing well yet, losing his first match twice and twice reaching the last sixteen. Those are poor statistics for someone who has been in the top-10 of the world rankings for some time now.
Peter Wright v Luke Woodhouse In the absence of several top players such as Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross, Peter Wright is the most appealing name present in Graz. 'Snakebite' had started the Euro Tour season with two defeats, but then recovered handsomely by reaching the quarter-finals at both the International Darts Open and German Darts Grand Prix. The absence of many of the big names gives Wright a chance to perhaps advance a bit. But so, of course, does subtopper Luke Woodhouse, who recorded a hard-fought 6-5 victory over Nathan Rafferty in the first round.
Jonny Clayton v Jermaine Wattimena
Leading the seed list at this tournament is Jonny Clayton, who has been successful in Austria several times in the past. 'The Ferret' crowned himself winner of the Austrian Darts Open in 2018 and 2023, which are also his only Euro Tour titles. Clayton made it to the quarterfinals at the Belgian Darts Open earlier this year, but was then eliminated three times in a row in the second round on the Euro Tour. On the floor, the Welshman does already have a title under his belt, as Clayton managed to win the fourteenth Players Championship event of the season in Rosmalen. Clayton will take on Jermaine Wattimena in Graz, who easily handled Zoran Lerchbacher (6-0) in the first round. 'The Machine Gun' will try to reach the final day of a Euro Tour for the second time this season, something he already managed to do at the European Darts Trophy in March.
In the fourth match of the evening, another Dutchman appears on the podium in the Steiermarkhalle. That was a certainty anyway, as Doets faced a compatriot in the first round. Hawk Eye' defeated Berry van Peer 6-3 to reach the second round of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time this season, after being eliminated in the first round the previous two times. With Nathan Aspinall he meets a world class player who is on a roll this season. The Asp' won the European Darts Trophy and also reached the final of the German Darts Grand Prix. Aspinall is currently the leader on the European Tour Order of Merit.
Chris Dobey v Ricardo Pietreczko
Chris Dobey is also back at it this weekend, after 'Hollywood' skipped the German Darts Grand Prix earlier this month. The Englishman has yet to look for his first win of the season on the Euro Tour after being eliminated in his first game of each of the first three tournaments of 2025. His opponent Ricardo Pietreczko did not make it past the second round either, although he had to start in the first round each time. The German won his first round four times, but was then also eliminated in the last 32 each time.
Stephen Bunting v Matt Campbell Stephen Bunting has only played two of the four Euro Tours this season, but managed to peak at both tournaments. 'The Bullet' reached the quarter-finals at the Belgian Darts Open and then surprised by winning the International Darts Open in Riesa. This was Bunting's first-ever Euro Tour title. Matt Campbell already has a match behind him in Graz. The Canadian won 6-5 in the first round against Dutchman Patrick Geeraets, who missed five match darts to eliminate Campbell. It was the second time this year that Campbell won his first match on the Euro Tour. He also did so at the Belgian Darts Open, where 'The Ninja' eventually made it to the last sixteen.
Martin Schindler v Matthew Dennant
Martin Schindler has had a pretty solid Euro Tour season so far. In the first four Euro Tours of the season 'The Wall' reached the final day each time, with the semi-final of the International Darts Open as the highlight. With Matthew Dennant as his opponent, Schindler is well placed to make it to the last sixteen again. Dennant was not originally qualified for this tournament, but due to a number of cancellations he was allowed to fill in. He crowned this substitution with a big 6-2 victory over Rowby-John Rodriguez in the first round. It was only the second time in nine Euro Tour appearances that Dennant made it through the first round. He never made it to the last sixteen.
Dave Chisnall v Ian White
We conclude the second round with an English friendly between Dave Chisnall and Ian White. The latter recorded a handsome 6-5 victory over Madars Razma in the first round on Friday, marking his first win on the Euro Tour since April 2023. 'The Diamond' meets with Chisnall a player who has had a difficult start to the season. Chizzy' usually performs very solidly on the Pro Tour, but only reached two quarter-finals in eighteen Pro Tour tournaments. Chisnall has only won eight Euro Tour titles over the years but the Austrian Darts Open is still missing from his record. In 2012 Chisnall reached the semi-finals in Austria, but never made it past the third round;
TV Guide
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Austrian Darts Open consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Saturday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Sunday in the second round. The denouement of the tournament follows on Monday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Monday night the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will follow.
Distribution of prize money
All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
