Jonny Clayton punches the air on night 3 of the 2026 Premier League Darts in Glasgow
Jonny Clayton stormed to the 2026 Premier League Darts Night Three win in Glasgow with a commanding 6-2 victory over Gian van Veen, averaging 104.35 and sealing the win in spectacular fashion with a stunning 156 checkout.
The Welshman was clinical throughout at the OVO Hydro, completing a dominant night that also included victories over Gerwyn Price and Luke Littler. In a round reshaped by Michael van Gerwen’s absence, Clayton was the man who capitalised.

Road to the final

Both finalists earned their place in contrasting fashion.
Van Veen opened the night by averaging 104.36 in a 6-3 quarter-final win over Stephen Bunting, punishing missed doubles and sealing the contest with an 11-darter. He then edged out Luke Humphries 6-5 in a high-quality semi-final, surviving seven Humphries maximums before pinning D8 in the deciding leg after missed darts at D16 from the reigning Premier League champion.
Clayton began with a confident 6-3 victory over Gerwyn Price in an all-Welsh quarter-final, landing a trademark 121 checkout to snap a difficult run in that rivalry. He then dismantled Luke Littler 6-1 in the semi-finals, averaging 101.33 and converting 66.67 per cent of his doubles in a ruthless display.

156 exclamation mark caps dominant display

Clayton set the tone immediately in the final, taking the opener after missing D14 for 121 but returning to pin D7.
He moved 2-0 ahead after wiring the bull for 121 before tidying up to double his advantage. Van Veen briefly responded with a 97 finish after opening leg five with a 180, but Clayton’s composure proved decisive.
A key D16 restored breathing room at 3-1, and despite some rare missed doubles on D16 and D8 later in the match, Clayton recovered well to maintain control.
At 5-2, he produced the defining moment. With 156 left, Clayton found treble 20, treble 20 and double 18 to close out the match in emphatic fashion and claim the Night Three crown.

Stories elsewhere on Night Three

The evening unfolded under the shadow of Michael van Gerwen’s illness withdrawal from the night. The league leader received zero points and a -6 leg difference swing, while scheduled opponent Luke Littler was handed a bye into the semi-finals and two league points.
Littler, however, failed to convert that opportunity into a nightly win, producing a subdued display in his 6-1 defeat to Clayton.
Elsewhere, the difficult starts continued for both Stephen Bunting and Josh Rock. Bunting’s loss to Van Veen means three straight defeats to begin the campaign, while Rock also falls to 0-3 after his quarter-final exit to Luke Humphries.
With Van Gerwen absent, Littler beaten, and Humphries eliminated in a deciding leg, Night Three has tightened the early-season standings and underlined just how quickly momentum can shift in the Premier League format.
