Luke Humphries vs. Gerwyn Price

The first semifinal between Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price promises to be a clash between the world number one, who managed to win the Grand Slam of Darts in 2023, and the man who has made the Grand Slam of Darts his stage of choice, winning the tournament three times already.
Humphries has already won two majors this year, but is still under pressure this tournament. After all, Luke Littler is hot on his heels to take over the number one position in the world rankings. 'Cool Hand Luke' has already impressed this tournament, as he is still undefeated and achieved an average of just under 105 in the previous round against Michael Smith.
So the 30-year-old Englishman is in top form as the World Cup is quietly approaching. But first he will want to win this major. With Gerwyn Price he will meet a familiar face. Humphries and Price have already played each other eight times this year. Remarkably, Price managed to win five of those duels and Humphries only three. So 'The Iceman' leaves with a slight mental advantage.
Although Price will also feel some pressure. The 40-year-old Welshman may have had a good year, including four titles at the Players Championship, but it was a lot less for someone of his stature at the majors. Price is yearning for another majors title, his last dating back to 2022 at the World Series of Darts Finals.
Both men are known for their high scoring ability, so we can expect a duel with high averages and spectacular finishes. Humphries leaves as the favorite, but the two men should not be far apart.

Luke Littler vs. Danny Nopert

The second semifinal between Luke Littler and Danny Noppert tells a very different story. Littler remains the phenom of the darts circuit, someone who at his age has won almost everything there is to win. His ability to keep scoring unhindered under pressure, his cool-headed finishes and his unwavering self-confidence make him a player who frightens any opponent
Littler - who is defending his title at this year's Grand Slam of Darts - has already won four majors this year (World Darts Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix), but his hunger seems far from satisfied. 'The Nuke' wants to take everything that comes his way.
Moreover, Littler is racing through the tournament for now, in no match did he really struggle. The question, then, is whether Noppert will succeed in doing so. 'The Freeze' is also having a stellar year and is aiming his darts at a second major title, following his final victory at the 2022 UK Open.
Littler and Noppert have played each other four times in their careers. This year, their only encounter was won by Noppert; the other three went to Littler each time last year. Noppert, however, is known for his composure, his dangerous timing and his ability to win matches without constantly throwing high averages. His strength lies in his discipline. When he finds his rhythm in a match, he becomes a player who hardly makes mistakes and strikes at crucial moments.
He is not easily impressed, even by a phenom like Littler, and his calm demeanor could well become a weapon against a young opponent who likes to steam ahead at a high pace. The key for Noppert lies in disrupting the flow that Littler takes such strong advantage of. If he manages to make the match slow and controlled, he can turn the game to his liking. But if Littler finds his trademark explosiveness from the start, the Dutchman could find it very difficult.
