Gerwyn Price recovered to see off World Cup of Darts winning partner Jonny Clayton in a 5-3 win which puts him in pole position in Group G.
Price made a slow start to proceedings and was punished as a result but came back to see off Clayton. He spoke afterwards and admitted it's difficult facing 'The Ferret' and that also he hopes to play better in the coming days.
"It's never easy playing Jonny, he's a top player and being World Cup partners we're close," said Price.
"I wasn't myself on the stage last night so I had to make sure I got myself going tonight.
"I still know I can play a lot better than I did tonight and hopefully I will show my best form over the next few days."
