Gerwyn Price is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2020/21 PDC
World Darts Championship after seeing off Mervyn King in a quality display.
Price spoke afterwards saying he felt comfortable at times in the match and that e was happy not to get embroiled. He also discussed his next tie with Daryl Gurney and potentially exploiting a few frailties with his game.
"I'm happy the Merv of the past few weeks didn't turn up. I wasn't spectacular, he didn't play brilliant but I took my opportunities at the right time especially with the 148 to win the first set.
"After that, I felt comfortable all the way through, when you're feeling comfortable, it becomes a bit easier but I'm happy it was 4-1 because the closer it would have got, the harder it would have got."
"I know the likes of Merv and Daryl, they can just turn it on. Also I know they've got that negativity in the back of their head that they haven't played well for six months so if I can pounce early and get that doubt back in his head because he's played rubbish for six months, I can just pounce and just get that negativity back in his head, I can come through that game."
As well as his thoughts on the World Number One spot and whether it is something he thinks about.
"I think about it every day who wouldn't. I wasn't a dart player seven years ago and I'm sat here in a World Quarter-Final and if I win this event I become World Number One and World Champion."
