Van Duijvenbode looks ahead to Quarter-Final clash with Anderson: "He's my hero, always been"

Dirk van Duijvenbode produced a comeback to dump out Premier League champion Glen Durrant and reach the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship Quarter-Finals.

Van Duijvenbode spoke afterwards and admitted that he felt good throughout but wasn't getting the results.

"I felt so good in the beginning and I was 3-1 down and then I felt good at the end and I won 4-3," said Van Duijvenbode to Sky Sports.

He was also asked about potential issues with his back as well as his next clash with Gary Anderson, his idol.

"It's what I do when I'm nervous, well it's always bad. I go to an osteopath twice a month but now I couldn't go because we couldn't go home for Christmas. I scheduled an appointment with the osteopath but I had to cancel it, I'd rather skip that than skip playing."

"He's my hero, always been. When I beat him in the (World) Grand Prix, I was like how can I beat my hero because you don't want to beat your hero because he's your hero."

"Now I play him on the biggest stage in the world. Win or lose I don't mind because I play my hero on the biggest stage I can play him."
