Price sets up final clash with Cross after denying Smith at European Championship

Gerwyn Price is into his third major final in his career after an 11-7 victory in the European Championship semi-finals against Michael Smith.

Price's catalyst was 13 missed darts at doubles; which killed the charge of Smith who had to come from behind having had another slow start going 4-0 down.

It is a chance gone for the St Helens ace to win a major title; but 'The Iceman' played well to survive the comeback and move through to a tie with Rob Cross.

Smith played well in the early going; but in a similar theme to most games involving 'Bully Boy' he failed to get going and this cost him with Price going 4-0 up with a 149 checkout and an 11-darter en route as he left his opponent behind.

Smith came out from the interval and found his rhythm finally though hitting four legs from five to trail 5-4 and at the break he squared up the second semi-final.

Price though claimed a vital break of throw finishing 88 to move 7-5 ahead. It was three legs on the spin for 'The Iceman' as he produced a 13 darter to make it 8-5.

Price though squandered darts at double allowing Smith the chance to come back and only trail 8-6. Price went 9-6 up though as Smith missed multiple darts at double.

Smith stayed in touch at 9-7 but Price surged towards the finishing line winning the tie 11-7 and confirming that final with Cross.
