Madars Razma has joined Martin Lukeman in reaching a maiden major Quarter-Final after a 3-1 win over Daryl Gurney at the 2022
World Grand Prix in Leicester.
The Latvian saw off the former champion with five 180's and a 92.4 average en route and will now face either Gerwyn Price or Joe Cullen.
Razma swept the first set 3-1 after initially going 1-0 down with a 110 checkout from Gurney. The Latvian began set two by hitting double 10 to hold throw and hit 101 from 131 to leave 30 as he pinned double 15 to go one away from a two sets lead.
His dominance continued with Razma missing 117 but returning for double 10 after Gurney missed 153 on double 18.
Gurney hit an 80 checkout on double eight to go one away from getting a set back. But Razma took a break back hitting double 10 to make it 2-1. But Gurney hit a 90 checkout to seal a set back.
Razma missed 65 on the bull to hold and Gurney hit double 18 off 56 for a break. The former hit a 180 and pinned double 12. He held to go one away on double 18.
A 153 started for Razma but Gurney accidentally hit double 20 going for 52 before hitting double three to send the set the distance.
Razma hit a 171 to leave 152 and he was well ahead on his throw looking towards the Quarter-Finals pinning double eight to seal it.
