The Quarter-Final line-up is confirmed at the
German Darts Open with
Krzysztof Ratajski set to face
Dimitri van den Bergh on Sunday evening in Jena.
But it was a tale of two games which went all the way to deciders and could have gone either way with Rob Cross and Luke Woodhouse losing out in the end.
Ratajski stumbled over the line against 'Voltage' 6-5 in a cagey tie which like the game after was dominated by missed darts at double with 35 in all between the pair. Sent all the way to a decider, Ratajski left 32 with Cross only leaving 139.
But Ratajski promptly missed seven darts for the match and even handed Cross some before he finally took out double eight to seal it.
While Van den Bergh had sheer relief etched upon his face as he took down Woodhouse and effectively also ended his European Championship chances.
To start the tie, Woodhouse broke back at 1-1 with a 121 checkout on the bull and went 4-1 up from there but the tables were turned on his next throw as Van den Bergh hit 108 to make it 4-3 before consolidating for parity.
Woodhouse went one away and had the throw in the decider but despite a 180, an 11-dart 84 break sealed it for Van den Bergh.
