Huw Ware has been one of the regular referees at PDC tournaments since 2019. The Welshman has now signed a contract as global ambassador for
Winmau Darts.
Ware made his debut with the BDO as a referee back in 2010, which was quite remarkable since he was only 16 years old at the time. In 2012, at the age of 18, he made his first appearance at the BDO World Championship, which still makes him the youngest referee ever at a World Championship. He was also a familiar face at the major BDO tournaments in the years that followed.
The Welshman eventually remained active with the BDO until 2016, but then switched to the PDC. He made his debut with the PDC at the 2016 UK Open and gradually he was used more often during major tournaments. After the retirement of Paul Hinks in 2019, he became one of the regular referees during major tournaments. Since 2018, Ware has also been the ambassador for the LGBT community within the sport of darts. In February 2014, Ware himself said about his orientation and the difficult road he has taken with his homosexuality.

Now darts manufacturer Winmau, which has sponsored darts boards at major PDC tournaments for several years, has announced that Ware has been appointed global ambassador for the brand. “I am so excited and thrilled to be joining Winmau as a global ambassador. Winmau is a brand that has been synonymous with the sport of darts for over 70 years now and is truly a global company. I am looking forward to working closely with Winmau over the next few years to help to further expand Winmau’s global appeal,'' Ware said.
Simon Hall, Marketing Director at Winmau, added: "We're thrilled to welcome Huw to Winmau. We believe his involvement will play a key role in expanding the sport worldwide."
