Many Tour Card holders are letting one or more
Players Championship tournaments slip by this week. The list of absent players counts as many as nineteen names. Four of them will not play one of the three tournaments, while the remaining fifteen players have cancelled or not registered for the full block.
Among others,
Michael van Gerwen,
Peter Wright,
Gerwyn Price, James Wade and Martin Schindler will not travel to Wigan. Van Gerwen is still ill, which also prevented him from competing in the previous two Players Championship tournaments last week, while 'Mighty Mike' also missed the Swiss Darts Trophy. Van Gerwen hopes to be fit again next week when the World Grand Prix is scheduled. Wright, Price, Wade and Schindler are also competing in the double-in double-out tournament and thus chose to take a week's rest.
