Rob Cross lauds Martin Schindler's European Tour success: "Couldn't happen to a nicer boy"

Rob Cross is through to the Last 16 of the European Darts Grand Prix but it could be said that Martin Schindler did throw part of the game away after leading and then missing match darts. But 'Voltage' took his chances to book his spot in the final day.

Cross spoke afterwards and lauded Martin Schindler for winning the International Darts Open last week in Riesa with perhaps the performance of The Wall coming down to the high of that and having to back it up the week later. Cross defied a 106 average in the process to silence the crowd and move through.

"I really enjoyed it tonight actually. I was switched off in the practice room, trying to gear myself up for the crowd. I thought I'd done that bit well and then when I come up I didn't switch off as much as I wanted to. I knew I had to perform tonight and I thought I did that at times," said Cross.

"Fair play to Martin for winning Riesa last week. It couldn't happen to a nicer boy. He worked so hard, he deserved it. He's been around for a few years and I'm glad he won."
