Rock superb in European Tour debut win over Petersen, Williams brushes aside Van Peer

Josh Rock has marked his European Tour debut with an impressive display to see off Devon Petersen and continue the afternoon session on the opening day at the Austrian Darts Open.

Rock and Petersen was earmarked as one of the matches of the opening round with the winner facing Rob Cross tomorrow and it was the rising Northern Irishman who won through in a 6-3 win.

In doing so, he produced a 101 average, hit three 180's with Petersen sat back on an 87 average with two 180's and a high checkout of 127 bookended with only 16.7% on the doubles.

While joining Rock in the next round is Jim Williams who eased past Berry van Peer 6-1.

After impressing last time in Munich, Van Peer struggled this time around averaging only 76 with 1/7 on his doubles meaning it was only an 86 average for 'The Quiff' but he took advantage on the doubles hitting 6/8.

Contrary also to the announcer Philip Brzezinski from PDC Europe, he will play Joe Cullen and not Rob Cross tomorrow.

While a tough test will await Ricky Evans who faces Damon Heta tomorrow after recovering to see off the Sweet Ferret, Johan Engstrom.

He hit a 100 average and 60% on the doubles as he returned from 3-0 down to win through 6-4 against the Swede.
