Rodriguez continues European Tour brilliance with Clemens win, Aspinall ends Williams run

The first Quarter-Final is set up at the European Darts Matchplay with Rowby-John Rodriguez set to face Nathan Aspinall this evening in Trier.

Rodriguez has continued his European Tour brilliance with victory over Gabriel Clemens to open up the session as he dented the home hopes of 'The German Giant' who hails from nearby in a 6-4 win.

He produced a 95 average with four 180's and 6/16 on the doubles as he went 3-0 up before surviving a comeback from Clemens who made it 3-3 but was broken straight back with a 13-darter from the Austrian.

Clemens also sealed another break on double five but an 82 checkout and consolidated on double four sealed the win for Rodriguez.

Next up will be Aspinall who ended the hopes of Scott Williams who was potentially aiming to use this weekend and the openness of the field as a vehicle to make the World Matchplay.

But it is 'The Asp' who dented those hopes with a 6-3 win sealing it with a 142 checkout and ending on a 103 average as the Stockport ace sent out a message to the rest of the field.
