Ross Smith eased past Florian Hempel and surprised himself post match after hitting a 101 average and 60% on the doubles at the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich.

Facing a home hero is always tough and for Smith, he praised the crowd for playing their part and said that it would be boring without them.

"Wow I really didn't realise that. I didn't know I'd hit 100+ average so I'm really happy with that," said Smith.

"I knew Florian was going to come out here with the crowd on his side which is honestly fair enough. I would be behind him too if I was you lot.

"But thank you all of you lot for coming because I tell you what without you lot, how boring would it be."

Next up is Joe Cullen and he doesn't read into his recent poor form and believes it will only take one game for him to switch it on again so he has to concentrate.

"I'm not bothered about how Joe's performances are, I know what Joe can do. At the end of the day, he's unbelievable. He's the Masters champion, Premier League runner-up.

"I know it'll only take one game for him to switch so at the end of the day, I've just to concentrate on me. Crack on and enjoy it and get the win."
