Menzies honest after scrappy Gurney win: "I only won that game because Daryl didn't play how he can"

Cameron Menzies sealed a 6-4 win over Daryl Gurney to open up his account at the German Darts Grand Prix with Nathan Aspinall set to be his next opponent tomorrow but the Scot was honest about his display.

He said he only won as Gurney didn't play anywhere near how he can with Menzies visibly shaking his head after hitting the winning double.

"Honestly it was a bit scrappy. Very poor game, I've got new darts and I'm trying my best to get better with them. I need practice. If Daryl would have played anywhere near where he can play, he would've hosed me," he said post match.

"He was very poor compared to how he can play, I don't want to sound disrespectful but Daryl's got a lot more in the tank than that. I only won that game because Daryl didn't play how he can."

"I'll take luck because sometimes you need a bit of luck. I've got nothing to lose now as I think I was lucky there."
