The third Players Championship of the year ended in a success for Chris Dobey. 'Hollywood' defeated Jelle Klaasen 8-4 in the final in Rosmalen on Monday afternoon.
Dobey, who previously reached the final at Players Championship 2, before losing to Gerwyn Price, also posted the highest average of the day. The 34-year-old Englishman won 6-1 over Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarterfinals, posting an average of 113.54.
The second highest average went to Gerwyn Price. The Iceman, winner of the second Players Championship last week, beat Peter Wright 6-3 in the last 32 with an average of 112.15. Price eventually lost out in the quarter-finals after a 6-5 defeat to Callan Rydz.
Completing the top three is Luke Woodhouse. 'Woody' defeated Thomas Lovely 6-3 in the first round, posting an average of 110.87. Woodhouse eventually went down 6-2 against Ratajski one round later.
After another high average from Dobey, comes Dirk van Duijvenbode in fifth place. 'Aubergenius' defeated William O'Connor 6-4 in the first round, averaging 106.69. Van Duijvenbode lost a round later 6-5 to Jose de Sousa.

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
