Chris Dobey showed tremendous resilience as he bounced back from his Players Championship 2 final defeat to claim the Players Championship 3 title in Rosmalen. The world number 10 defeated Jelle Klaasen 8-4 in the final, securing his fourth ProTour title in just ten months.

After falling just short in his previous outing, Dobey responded in style, demonstrating his class throughout the tournament. His run to the title included dominant victories over Owen Bates (6-0), Wessel Nijman (6-4), Krzysztof Ratajski (6-1), and Callan Rydz (7-6).

The 33-year-old was in fine form all day, hitting a 100+ average against Bates and an incredible 113.54 average against Ratajski, featuring a stunning 164 checkout. His ability to deliver high-quality darts under pressure proved key to his success.

In the final, Dobey wasted no time asserting himself, racing into a 2-0 lead with an 11-dart leg followed by a 13-darter. Klaasen, aiming for his first ranking title in a decade, fought hard but struggled to match Dobey’s relentless scoring.

A crucial break of throw in the ninth leg pushed Dobey further ahead, and a clinical 110 checkout put him within touching distance of victory. Although Klaasen pulled one leg back, Dobey held his nerve to finish the job with a composed 15-dart leg.

After his victory, Dobey reflected on his performance, emphasizing his ambition to transfer his floor game to the biggest stages:

"Honestly, I was crying out for this form a couple of years ago. If I can take this form now on the stage I could be winning these major titles."

"But it’s getting the floor game back on to the TV. Yeah, it is hard, but I keep working hard and putting in the hours, and it’s starting to pay off on the floor. It’s just a matter of time before it happens on the stage again."

With many of the sport’s biggest names absent from the tournament, Dobey acknowledged the importance of taking advantage of these opportunities:

"You have got to take opportunities like this every time. You come to these and [Luke] Littler and [Luke] Humphries are at home, and you’ve got to make it count when they are not here."

"I’m not frightened of them, but on their day, they are really hard to beat. You have to respect that, and when they are not here, you have to make up for it. I have come here and done that."

The former Masters champion concluded with a clear message: "I love playing darts, and I want to keep on winning titles."
