Michael Smith has returned to winning ways in the Premier League after losing out with a capitulation on the doubles last night against Nathan Aspinall.
Smith saw off an under-par
Daryl Gurney 8-3 with five 180's to his name en route and a high checkout of 112 en route. He is now level on points with Aspinall and is just a point off the top four.
He came out of the gates on fire with a 112 checkout making it four consecutive legs and giving him a lead of 5-2. He extended it to 6-2 with a 93 average as he claimed a break of throw.
From there, he hit double five to go within a leg of the winning line at 7-2 up. Gurney stopped the rot at 7-3 with double four and a hold of throw but this was nothing more than a consolation as Smith claimed it.
