So far the evening session at the
World Cup of Darts Last 16 has gone the way of the big names with England the latest to book their spot in the Quarter-Finals in Frankfurt.
Facing Latvia duo Madars Razma and Dmitry Zhukov, it was a comprehensive 8-4 victory for
Michael Smith and
Rob Cross.
It was a comfortable start for the duo with Smith pinning double 20 to make it 2-0 and break throw for England.
But Latvia found their way back into the tie with Razma reducing the deficit to only two legs at 4-2.
That lasted only one leg with Cross continuing to build the lead for England pinning a huge 102 checkout to make it 5-2 albeit with Latvia not on a finish.
Smith again hit with a double eight to break again this time at 7-3 and send them one away from the winning line.
He sealed it in style from there as despite being broken, Smith hit a 111 checkout to make it 8-4 and claim the victory.
They join Wales who opened tonight's proceedings with a dominant win, with only Netherlands left in terms of the seeds entering in at this stage to open their campaign against Belgium shortly.
