Peter Wright suffered what was already his 28th defeat of the season against Mickey Mansell on Friday night. 'Snakebite' went down 6-5 against the Northern Irishman in the first round of the European Darts Grand Prix.
Last week Wright also lost 6-5 to Gabriel Clemens in the first round of the International Darts Open, and with the Scot's struggles in the Premier League Darts season well documented, after 12 nights, Wright has managed only two wins.
Statistics from Darts Orakel show that Wright's win percentage has declined significantly in recent years. Wright first became world champion in 2020 and in that year he won 77% of his matches.
In the following year, "Snakebite" saw his win percentage drop slightly to 71% of his duels. Wright then became world champion again in 2022. That year however, Wright recorded a 63% winning percentage, marking another drop off. That dropped again to 53% in 2023, whilst so far in 2024, Wright has won only 50% of his matches.
