LENNON REGAINS HIS TOUR CARD! 🎟️ Steve Lennon regains his PDC Tour Card at the first attempt! The Irishman defeated William Borland 6-4 in the Day One final.
Steve Lennon immediately reclaimed his PDC Tour Card on the first day of finals at the UK Q-School. 'Scuba Steve' won 6-4 over William Borland in the first day's final.
Lennon had a PDC Tour Card from 2017 through 2023, but did not perform well in the past two seasons. As a result, he lost his Tour Card after the last World Championship. Lennon looked set to keep his Tour Card for a long time, but fell just outside the top-64 because Luke Littler got a Tour Card thanks to his place in the World Championship final. With the recapture of his Tour Card, the Irish dart player can at least compete in the Pro Tour tournaments again for the next two years.
Lennon showed a good level throughout the tournament, with averages of (well) over 90 each time. He defeated Leighton Bennett (6-2), Shaun Wilkinson (6-3) and Brett Claydon (6-2) to qualify for the last sixteen. Against Matthew Dennant (6-5), Lennon escaped defeat before also beating Justin Hood (6-3), George Killington (6-2) and thus Borland.
In addition to Killington, Boulton also managed to make it to the semifinals, racking up quite a few points for the UK Q-School Order of Merit. Justin Hood, Shane McGuirk, Patrick Lynskey and Cam Crabtree were the four losing quarterfinalists.
