"The old boys are not done with this sport yet" - James Wade takes inspiration from Gary Anderson's Euro Tour success

For James Wade, the past European Darts Grand Prix was something of a disappointment. 'The Machine' went down 6-2 in his opening match against Ritchie Edhouse.

Wade, however, does not want to sit back and, he says, has taken inspiration from Gary Anderson's tournament victory. "The old boys are not done with this sport yet," Wade writes in his column for the Daily Star. "Although I would like to say that at 41 years old I am practically a baby compared to Gary - I hope he's not reading this - in darting terms, we are the old guard when you pit us against the new generation."

"Gary proved that class is permanent with some of the displays which he turned in. Well done to him. The Flying Scotsman is back and I really hope to be following his lead again soon," continues Wade.

Wade won the Premier League Darts in 2009. This year he is not in the tournament, and has been a regular ever since this year though, the Englishman didn't get the nod, although he has been keeping a close eye on proceedings.

"I said the Premier League looked impossible to call - and so it turned out," Wade assesses. "Michael van Gerwen has always liked to make a point of winning the league table ahead of the play-offs, but that is looking a long way off this year with the form of the two Lukes at the top."
