Readers have been
voting all week on DartsNews.com for their winner of the 2024
UK Open with one player coming out on top who would end a stint without a major title and lives nearby.
That being
Gary Anderson who has been in stellar form so far this year having ProTour success and he took home 24.93% of the vote. This ahead of
Michael van Gerwen who famously lost to Andrew Gilding last year and is a tournament he has not won in four years. He took home 18.90% of the vote.
Luke Littler is next with 11.55% of the vote. He was only stopped narrowly in the fourth round last year by Adam Gawlas on his debut, but since then has gained sporting stardom. So the expectation will be high, but will he rise to it.
Ryan Searle is next with 10.50% of the vote ahead of Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries who sit just over 5% each. Michael Smith for instance is on 1.84%, Peter Wright 1.31% and Nathan Aspinall is not backed to repeat his success from the Premier League. He is on 0.52%. As ever the FA Cup of Darts can throw up some real shocks and surprises and it seems that the darting public believe that there will be one with Anderson returning to the winners' circle. An interesting few days awaits in Minehead.
