After much speculation, Beau Greaves will compete at PDC Q-School in January 2025, her management Opus Sports Management announced on Friday. It is the second time "Beau 'n' Arrow" has competed in the multi-day event where the final PDC Tour Cards are distributed.
The first time was in 2020, when the Englishwoman was still considered a up and coming talent. Then she lost all of her four matches at Q-School. In the years since though, Greaves the arrived on the darting scene, positioning herself as the top player of the women's circuit.
Greaves is by far the best player among the women. According to statistics from Darts Orakel, Greaves won a whopping 236 of her 270 matches in 2024. All these victories earned her a bucketload of titles. She won the PDC Women's World Matchplay for the second time in a row, became the WDF Women's World Champion for the third time in a row, picked up 12 more WDF titles and was the best at eight PDC Women's Series tournaments in 2024.
Several times, however, Greaves let slip that she does not like playing against men. She has done so a few times in the PDC; the 20-year-old Englishwoman has competed twice at the Grand Slam of Darts and was among the 96 participants at the 2023 World Darts Championship.
She had also qualified for the previous and the upcoming World Darts Championship, but had to give up her spot because the PDC does not allow players to compete at both the Alexandra Palace and Lakeside. Both years, Greaves preferred to play at Lakeside. Immediately after Greaves became ladies' world champion for the third time earlier this month, she indicated she was going to return next year.
But Greaves now seems set to aim for a new challenge after all. "We are sooo excited to announce that Beau Greaves, the current 3x Women’s World Champion & 2x Women’s World Matchplay Champion, is taking on a new challenge in January… PDC Q School!" her management writes on Facebook. "Whilst some may feel it has been a long time coming, our aim is to ensure our players feel absolutely comfortable in what they play & make their own decisions, in their own time! We FULLY back Beau’s decision in trying Q School in January, and truly believe she is ready for this step in her darting career!"
Because Greaves finished in the top eight of the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit, she does not have to pay an entry fee and the three-time women's world champion is directly admitted to the final phase of the Q-School. Together with 127 players, she will distribute the available Tour Cards at the UK Q-School in Milton Keynes from January 9 to 12.
