Gerwyn Price was at his destructive best in the opening round of the
US Darts Masters as he took a comfortable 6-2 win over home favourite Jules Van Dongen with a 105 average.
Worryingly for his competitors however, Price believes there is still room for improvement. "Was it!?" Asked a surprised Price when informed of his average. "I wouldn't have said it was that. I felt comfortable. But 105, good win, onto the next round."
Looking to bounce back from the heartache he suffered in the final of the Premier League Darts, Price laid down a marker with his performance here, showing just why he was the bookies favourite heading into the event.
"There's a lot more to come I think," says the Welshman. "There's so many good players left in this tournament. Fingers crossed I can keep playing well and I'll lift this trophy. "
