Cameron Menzies continues to impress at the Dutch Darts Championship. The 34-year-old Scot defeated compatriot Peter Wright 6-3 in the second round.
Menzies, who had already sent home Raymond van Barneveld in the opening round, again reached almost 100 average against Wright. "I feel like I'm playing pretty well at the moment," Menzies reviewed post-match to Darts Actueel. "I didn't feel pressure though, because I felt the same against Barney yesterday. I felt like it was a no lose situation."
"If you look at Ricardo Pietreczko, these European Tours can change your career if you get to the final or win one, so that's the aim," Menzies continues. "But for me, it's about building points for next year. I just want to keep my Tour Card and I feel like I'm playing okay at the moment."
Menzies also appears to be a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest and plans to take the stage at his next contest to the tones of "Europapa" by Joost Klein. "I've got friends who love Eurovision and don't get me wrong, some of the songs are cheesy, some of the songs are fun, but Europapa is class!" Menzies says with a smile. "I'll try and get it out tomorrow. I like it, the Dutch like it, so why not?
Menzies will play that next match on Saturday afternoon against Josh Rock, who saw off Dirk van Duijvenbode on Friday night. "I'm looking forward to playing against Josh. We're good friends and he's also a great player. If we both play our best it's bound to be a cracker."
