PDC statistician Christopher Kempf has created a ranking showing the ten best in-form players competing in this weekend's World Cup of Darts. This ranking is based on the last two hundred legs played by the respective players.
Wales are seen as top favourites for overall victory at the World Cup of Darts and, looking at the PDC Form Guide, that is more than justified. Indeed, Gerwyn Price is ranked No 1 with an average of 98.29 in his last two hundred legs, with Jonny Clayton following in second place with 97.04.
Moreover, nobody managed to throw as many scores from 171 to 180 his last 200 legs as Price. 'The Iceman' did so no less than 79 times, almost twice as many as Clayton, who mainly relies on his 140 scores. Clayton, however, excels at finishing. 'The Ferret' has already thrown 23 100+ finishes this season, the most of any Tour Card holder.
Apart from Wales, England (Rob Cross with 96.31 and Michael Smith with 95.08) and Germany (Martin Schindler with 94.99 and Gabriel Clemens with 94.75) are the only countries where both players are in the top-10 of the form rankings.
The surprising number three is Gary Anderson, who is on a revival this year and has already reached three Players Championship finals. 'The Flying Scotsman' averaged 96.55 points per turn in his last two hundred legs.
Dirk van Duijvenbode is the only Dutchman in the top-10 with an average of 94.01. Remarkably, Van Duijvenbode has the best finishing percentage of all World Cup participants in his last two hundred legs.
The top-10 is further completed by Damon Heta (fifth on the list with 95.56) and Krzysztof Ratajski (tenth on the list with 93.53).
The World Cup of Darts will take place from 15 to 18 June in Frankfurt. Australia is the defending champion at the Nations tournament after beating Wales in the final last year.
