Raymond van Barneveld is into the Last 16 at the Grand Slam of Darts with a game to spare after seeing off the defending champion Gerwyn Price in a superb 5-4 win on Sunday afternoon.
"Like I said before, I work hard for the last two years and it never seems to happen so you're thinking what can I do more and sometimes you really don't know. For the last year, I could never win four matches on the spin and then the target was qualifying for the Grand Slam which is an amazing tournament that I won ten years ago," he said post match.
"I'm thinking I won this, I want to qualify for this and I did with a bit of luck. Then you see the group with Price, Chisnall and Evetts you thinking this is tough. Then beating Chizzy yesterday and today (beating Price) wow, I'm really happy and pleased and over the moon with this result."
The belief and confidence is there though for the doyen of Dutch darts with Van Barneveld admitting if it wasn't, he wouldn't be there and wants to be that player to be feared.
"Gerwyn was a big sport after that, he was enjoying I think and I was enjoying the way he was playing. That's what people want. You keep believing in yourself and keep fighting and that's what I did.
"The belief is always there otherwise I wouldn't come here to grab some money and then go home and have a nice life with Julia. I really believe I can do this and I'm thinking I'm showing this you know Dave Chisnall is winning a ProTour, European Tour recently. Gerwyn Price is the World Number One, former World Champion and three time winner of the Grand Slam and I'm beating him. They all know an in-form Raymond van Barneveld is hard work to beat and that's what I always say if it doesn't work we work harder."
