Next weekend we can once again enjoy the spectacle at the UK Open. During the 2016 edition, Michael van Gerwen managed to provide a delightful spectacle in his match against Rob Cross by throwing 18 perfect darts in a row.
At a score of 5-3 in favour of van Gerwen, the Dutchman managed to throw out 347 in two visits. He left the highest finish after a 177 score. Two arrows into the treble 20 followed, then 'Mighty Mike' hit the bullseye for a 170 finish.
In leg 10, the three-time World Champion continued merrily. Van Gerwen threw two maximum scores in a row and then threw out 141 for a nine darter. A commercial break briefly interrupted the momentum, but after the break the world number one immediately started with a maximum score. Divided over three legs, van Gerwen thus managed to throw 18 perfect darts in a row.
