This Friday, the 22nd edition of the UK Open begins in Minehead. Prior to the start of the "FA Cup of Darts," Dartsnews is looking back at special moments in the history of this iconic tournament.
This time focus is on Paul Nicholson, who experienced his heyday from 2010-11. In 2010, when 'The Asset' managed to win the Players Championship Finals, he already proved too strong for Taylor. A year later at the 2011 UK Open, the two faced each other again.
In this match, the Australian grabbed a 7-3 lead, but Taylor managed to come back to 8-8. A deciding leg had to determine which player advanced to the quarterfinals of the UK Open.
Both players looked very nervous in the deciding leg as 'The Power' even threw a 43 and 45 score. Nicholson remained the coolest and took the win via double 8. In the end, this turned out to be one of the last big wins for 'The Asset' in his career.
