Top five highest losing match averages at PDC World Darts Championship

The PDC World Darts Championship begins on Tuesday and Dartsnews takes a look back at the top five highest losing averages in the history of the tournament.

Raymond van Barneveld as expected sits top of the averages with 109.34 against Michael van Gerwen in their classic semi-final tie in 2017 where he lost 6-2.

Jeffrey de Zwaan is second with his 2019 effort against Rob Cross where he lost in the second round 3-1 with a 106.09 average. Cristo Reyes famously held the record for all but a few days when he hit 106.07 against Van Gerwen in 2017 before Van Barneveld took the mark.

While the year before, Michael van Gerwen when he was on the receiving end lost 4-3 to Van Barneveld and averaged 105.78 and the opposite when he won the 2017 final with Gary Anderson finalising the top five with 104.93.
