Top seed Heta dumped out by Pietreczko, Wade eases past Suljovic and Williams sees off Soutar at Players Championship Finals

Speaking pre-tournament, Damon Heta said that he wanted to finally take his ProTour form onto the big stage but that certainly won't be the case this weekend with the top seed at the Players Championship Finals in Minehead heading home.

Heta was dumped out by Ricardo Pietreczko also known as 'Pikachu' in a win that opens the tournament up in the top half in a quarter which also includes Callan Rydz now awaiting and the likes of Andrew Gilding, Adrian Lewis and Keane Barry.

It was a 6-5 win for the German who had a dart to win it at 6-4 but it was sent all the way and despite leaving it handy, Heta didn't return with a last dart 60 checkout with nerves sent to elation as he sealed the biggest win of his career so far.

While in a game which could've graced the main stage given both of their respective years, Scott Williams saw off Alan Soutar in a superb game 6-4 over on Stage Two with a 92 average and 6/15 on the doubles.

It was a game dominated at the start and at the end with breaks of throw with Williams in the latter half going 5-3 up but missing match darts allowing Soutar to make it 5-4 but he couldn't consolidate and 'Shaggy' finally got over the line. This is also a big game for Danny van Trijp watching on with the Dutchman needing Williams to finish inside the top 64 of the Order of Merit to claim his Tour Card and at the moment he is well placed to do that.

Also through was Daryl Gurney on Stage Two doing enough to see off Keegan Brown, a winner on tour this year in a 6-3 win. Back on the Main Stage, James Wade was also a 6-2 victor against Mensur Suljovic.

Suljovic talked up last week about how he is back and wanted another crack at the Premier League but after a below par display, he will be doing anything but at the moment.

It was a 79 average and 2/10 on the doubles for 'The Gentle' in a game where Wade missed multiple match darts for a whitewash allowing Suljovic a few legs back but in the end a 12 darter saw 'The Machine' sail through.
