This weekend, the 2025 UK Open takes place from its now regular home of Butlins in Minehead. Although the draw has already been done, for two qualified players, it has sadly come at the wrong time.
Jeffrey de Graaf cannot compete in the UK Open this weekend. His girlfriend is currently heavily pregnant and the baby could be born at any moment. De Graaf had previously expressed his desire to be present for the delivery. The baby was due Feb. 20, so De Graaf had already decided to skip all Pro Tour tournaments in the month of February. He had high hopes of returning to action at the UK Open, but the baby has still not been born. As a result, he felt compelled to opt out of the UK Open.
Besides De Graaf, Tim Wolters also decided not to compete in Minehead. The reason for his cancellation is not known. The cancellations of De Graaf and Wolters will affect the draw. Danny Lauby was originally scheduled to face Wolters in the second round of the UK Open, but has now been directly admitted to the third round. A meeting awaits there with Jitse van der Wal, Darryl Pilgrim or Chris Hartrey.
De Graaf would have started in the third round of the UK Open, taking on Adam Hunt, Maximilian Czerwinski or Maik Kuivenhoven. Instead, Hunt will now play either Czerwinski or Kuivenhoven in the second round, with the winner advancing directly to the fourth round.
