The PDC on announced the list of international qualifying tournaments for the PDC World Darts Championship on Wednesday. One qualifier immediately stood out, as space had been made for a qualifying tournament in Ukraine.
Normally, a qualifying spot is made available for the winner of the EuroAsian Darts Corporation Pro Tour, a circuit for players from Russia and Belarus. However, darts players from these countries are currently banned because of the war Russia has started in Ukraine.
Consequently, the PDC has decided to have a qualifying tournament in Ukraine in Kiev on October 15-16. Never before has a player from Ukraine competed in the PDC World Darts Championship.
