The upcoming edition of the
Belgian Darts Open (23-25 September in Wieze) has yet to begin, yet there is already certainty for a continuation of this tournament.
In 2020, the PDC organised a
European Tour tournament in Belgium for the first time. That tournament was then still known as the Belgian Darts Championship, which then could not take place in 2021 because of the corona pandemic.
With a new tournament name, the event got a fresh start in 2022. Belgium's Wieze will be visited again in 2023, according to promoter Golazo.
''That is a certainty,'' states Alexander Algoet of Golazo Sports/Sportizon to the Belgian website Het Nieuwsblad. Moreover, there are plans for even more events.
"We are starting now with this tournament and then next year, there could also be room for some kind of gala evenings with two to five top international players. An invitational tournament as is also organised abroad. In larger accommodation then. But this is all still in the brainstorming phase."
