Van der Meer admitted that adjusting to the PDC has been difficult but that he won't give up if he loses his Tour Card with Q-School his ultimate likely destination.
"I have not yet reached my level in the PDC from previously competing in the Netherlands. That switch has turned out to be difficult. It will be difficult to keep my Tour Card, but I still plan to go to Q-School again if necessary, ”said the 40-year-old Dutchman in an interview with RTL Nieuws.
He also looked back on a tournament where he emerged on the Euro Tour back in 2017 and made an interesting revelation on how he plays better: "That was in 2017 when I didn't have a Tour Card yet, but I managed to qualify for the Euro Tour in Austria. I immediately reached the last sixteen there and was allowed to play against Michael van Gerwen , an incredible experience!
I was very nervous beforehand to throw on that big stage, especially because I don't like to give interviews. Fortunately, you did not have to give an interview there, but that is something I still have to get used to. So you can certainly keep calling me ”, Van der Meer laughed.
