Van Gerwen and Cadby to meet in Players Championship 2 final

Michael van Gerwen and Corey Cadby will meet for the first time in the Players Championship 2 final.

The pair have never played each other in a competitive fixture. But van Gerwen's 6-2 win over Simon Stevenson and Cadby's 6-3 defeat of Ian White in Barnsley have set up a huge clash. The winner will take the Players Championship 2 title and the £10,000 top prize.
World number one van Gerwen was far below his normal standard against Stevenson, averaging a mere 85.3. None of the eight legs were won in fewer than 15 darts, as the pair struggled to get going. Mighty Mike broke throw in the third leg, and was rarely threatened by the Mirror Man after that. A pair of 180s were enough to seal the deal. Cadby was much more impressive in his win over White, averaging 104.8. The King struck a 180, a 177 and a 171 across the nine legs. Three 12-darters were the highlight, but a nervy 21-darter was the all-important leg. White averaged 109.8 but was punished for some important missed doubles. The Diamond struck five maximums during a high-quality tie.
