Michael van Gerwen showed good form on Friday night at an exhibition event in York, England. 'Mighty Mike' managed to win his exhibition match there against
Luke Humphries.
The clash between the three-time world champion and the world number one was the main event of the night. Van Gerwen took a 7-1 lead against Humphries, but saw him come back to 7-5 after "Cool Hand Luke" managed to throw 141, 135 and 112 checkouts.
Then Van Gerwen still managed to pull out the victory 8-5. Published statistics show that the Dutchman managed to throw six 180 scores and came to an average of 103.83, while Humphries averaged a very decent 96.97 with one maxium score during the match.
However, more exhibition matches were played in York. Adrian Lewis took on Joe Cullen and 'The Rockstar' managed to win this match 6-3. Lewis, who recently announced his return, did show that he can still play excellent darts with an average of 97.
Humphries also played another match against Ricky Evans, considered by many as the fastest darter in the world. However, 'Rapid Ricky' also managed to match this speed with good precision and won 3-2 against Humphries thanks to a 142 finish in the last leg.
